I prayed for the perfect online business to start.

At the time, I had my mind set on becoming a web designer and had spent months learning code online.  I was so excited at the prospect of doing something creative, fun and interesting, and getting far, far away from retail management.

After a few months of learning code, I found a book at the library called 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start From Home.  I decided to pick it up to see what else was out there for me to learn.

After reading through the book, I got down on my knees and prayed something like:

Dear Heavenly Father, You know me better than I know myself.  You created me in my mother’s womb for a specific purpose.  You know my heart.  Thank you for placing this desire in me to start a business.

Holy Spirit, out of all of these listed in this book, what business should I start?  What would be the most fulfilling and lucrative career for me?  I no longer want to do I work I have no passion for.  Show me what to do Lord, however you see fit.  In a dream, an impression upon my heart, whatever you choose.  I just pray that you show me.  And I thank you Lord.

In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

Immediately, when I got up, the Holy Spirit impressed upon my heart to start a blog.

I remember this clearly.  Getting up off my knees and running over to my computer, the blog ideas flowing.  I was so excited that night!  And so shocked, amazed and grateful that God answered my prayer so quickly and so clearly.

I do remember thinking, “Wait. How am I supposed to earn a living from a blog?”  I’m trying to get out of poverty.  Where is the money in blogging?

However, I trust the God of this universe, our Creator, for my income.  Yes I work to earn a paycheck, but that money belongs to God.  Everything I do is His.

So if He prompts me to start a blog as my business, then that’s what I’m doing, and I will pour my heart and soul into it.

God has told me to act by starting a blog.

What has God told you to do?  Do you have the faith to do it?   He loves you and He is for you.  The Lord can do more on your behalf than you can with sheer effort alone.  Trust Him and have faith.

And as a side note: Blogging was not one of the businesses listed in that book.

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.
