My mother would tell you I’ve been saved all my life.

Maybe, I don’t know. But I do know that as long as I can remember, I’ve had a relationship with Jesus. I felt His Holy Spirit at a young age, believed He was real, and I talked to Him.

But growing up as a believer, going to high school and eventually to college, I lived for myself. I did what I wanted when I wanted. And I lived the Christian “roller coaster” lifestyle.

Yes, there is such a thing.

I was the one “on fire” for God on Sundays, loving Him with my whole heart, and then by the weekend I was back into my own sins. Living for myself, sitting and playing video games all day, and then into pornography at night.

And then by Saturday evening, disgusted with myself, I’d cry out to God in repentance. But on Sunday the cycle would start again.

That was my Christian life for years.

I had a sincere desire to serve the Lord, but I was overcome by temptation, not using what God had already given me to overcome. He is faithful.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

But when you’re not in the Word, you don’t realize that. You don’t realize that you CAN overcome temptation.

Here’s the Gospel Message as I know it.

While you were still in your sins, Christ died for you.

Sin is what eternally separates us from the true and living God.  It’s missing the mark.  It’s us trying to determine our own standard of “ethical living” apart from the God who created us.   Our own standard will never measure up to God’s because of our sin nature from the fall of man.  Without God, even the best of intentions will always be twisted and self serving.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Without Christ, we are dead in our sins.

When Adam disobeyed God’s command, sin entered the world.  And through that sin, death entered for all mankind.

That’s why God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, the light of the world, to seek and to save the lost.  That’s me and that’s you.

Jesus came, lived His life perfectly for you, was nailed to the Cross and died, and then rose again on the third day with all power and authority.  He died for you.

Because the penalty for sin is death.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

This is the free gift Jesus Christ offers you today.

God can forgive you.

And He can free you and deliver you from the sin that has you bound.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

Not only does He save, He heals:

And it doesn’t stop there:

Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory.  O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55

“No man take my life, but I lay it down.” – Jesus

Those who crucified Jesus didn’t know that He laid his life down willingly. That He gladly laid it down, and He’d do it again for you if He had to.

“For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross.”

And He rose from the dead and is alive, pleading for you. Making intercession night and day for your soul. For your life.

Because He loves you.

There’s so much more to this gospel message, to this good news. But the peace and freedom found in Jesus Christ is unmatched.

Know that you were worth everything.

Worth dying for. You still are. Jesus gave it all so that you could be free and transformed into His image.

Yes, you can live free.

That sin that you want to be free from? Jesus already paid for it, so that you could confess it, repent from it, (means to turn away) and then give it to Him.  And He will give you the power to resist when the temptation to sin comes again.

Come to Jesus and be made new.

He paid the ultimate price for you, and all you have to do is accept it.  Believe it and receive it.

Let Jesus wash you clean from head to toe. From the sin that disgusts you.

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” -Matthew 11:29

Yes, Jesus can set you free.

Give your life to Him; your whole heart. He paid it all.
